CADEM Election Information

If you would like to take a more active role in the California Democratic Party, here is an opportunity for you to be involved.  In January 2017, the CDP will be holding Assembly District Election Meetings (ADEM) where 14 (7 female & 7 male) Delegates are elected to represent their Assembly District (AD). 2 (1 female/1male) Assembly District Executive Board Representatives (E-Board) will also be elected. These Delegates will attend the State Party Conventions in 2017 and 2018 (a 2-year term).
Who may participate?
Any Democrat registered to vote (as of October 24, 2016) and residing in the Assembly District may participate in electing these delegates, or may run for election as a Delegate.
Filing information

Democrats interested in running to be an Assembly District Delegate must file with the State Party by 5:00PM, Thursday, December 8, 2016. The application to file for AD candidate will open Wednesday, November 16, 2016. There is a filing fee of $20.00 to run as an ADEM Candidates, which may be done online.

Delegate expenses and responsibilities
Please note that if you are elected as a Delegate to these state conventions, you will be responsible for all expenses including travel, hotel and food. Costs may easily run more than $1,000 per year for the two year term.  Please refer to the following attachment, “Delegate and E-board Expense and Responsibility Sheet” for more information on delegate responsibilities and expenses.  The information sheet below is from 2014 and may be updated by the CDP.
