We are devastated by the passing of one of the greatest jurists ever to serve on the Supreme Court. Ruth Bader Ginsburg became an architect of gender equality and civil rights, a fierce and shrewd advocate for so many who went without a voice for so long. Only the second woman ever to serve on the Court, she became a role model for women of several generations. As NPR’s Nina Totenberg said, she knew how to play hurt, and even as she faced down four different types of cancer, she kept on going out and putting up the good fight until the end. Among her last words, dictated to her granddaughter a few days ago, were that her replacement not be chosen until after the election. We will do everything in our power to honor her wish.
