WHEREAS, the Santa Rosa Teachers Association (SRTA) conducted a vote of no confidence  resulting in 97% of voting members expressing no confidence in Superintendent Daisy  Morales’s leadership;

WHEREAS, SRTA President Kathryn Howell and numerous teachers, counselors, and nurses  have voiced strong objections to recent administrative decisions, including the reassignment or  removal of more than a dozen school administrators, citing disruption and a breakdown in  trusted relationships;

WHEREAS, Superintendent Morales’s leadership tenure has been marked by repeated  incidents of instability and turmoil, paralleling challenges in her previous district where 82% of  teachers also voted no confidence in her leadership;

WHEREAS, significant budgetary shortfalls, site closures, and staff layoff notices have  heightened concerns about the district’s future, prompting widespread protests from teachers,  parents, and students who emphasize the need for competent and transparent leadership;

WHEREAS, local community members, including parent-led groups, have circulated petitions  calling for Superintendent Morales’s removal, underscoring the depth of public frustration; and

WHEREAS, the Sonoma County Democratic Party supports the rights of educators, students,  and families to a stable, transparent, and effective learning environment, and recognizes the  damaging impact of ongoing leadership strife within Santa Rosa City Schools;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Sonoma County Democratic Party stands in full  support of the Santa Rosa Teachers Association and its members, who have voiced a clear,  near-unanimous vote of no confidence in Superintendent Morales;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Sonoma County Democratic Party calls upon  Superintendent Daisy Morales to resign from her position, and urges the Santa Rosa City  Schools Board to act expeditiously to restore trust and stability for students, teachers, staff,  and the broader community;

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Sonoma County Democratic Party encourages all  stakeholders—families, educators, and district leadership—to engage in open dialogue and to  chart a new course for Santa Rosa City Schools, one rooted in accountability, collaboration,  and the best interests of every student.

California Democratic Party (CDP) and the Democratic National Committee (DNC).  
Public meetings of the Sonoma County Democratic Party are open to all registered Democrats.
