
Whereas, the Sonoma County Democratic Party stands in solidarity with the people of Los Angeles exercising their right to non-violently protest, and with Mayor Karen Bass and Governor Newsom in their call for withdrawal of all Federal military interference in a local protest, and
Whereas, all efforts to exaggerate the extent of the protest in order to create a pretext for use of federal military troops, do not equate to an actual need for military options, and
Whereas, ordering and deploying such military force into state or local jurisdictions as a response to non-violent demonstrations is unconstitutional, anti-democratic, and violates the 10th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution;
Therefore, be it resolved, that the Sonoma County Democratic Party urges the California Democratic Party and all elected officials to immediately, formally, and publicly oppose the extreme, illegal actions by the federal authorities in Los Angeles, California, and to lead and support the people in their protest against this overreach.
