Whereas, it has been recommended by the Ad Hoc Committee on CDP Strategic Financial Planning that the Party must only accept contributions that are in harmony with the Party’s values; and
Whereas, the Ad Hoc Committee has noted that over the past few years, a number of categories of donors have been designated as unacceptable for the CDP including gun manufacturers, the tobacco industry, the payday lending industry, the private prison industry, and all other affiliated groups and organizations that promote these industries, and further recommends a prohibition of contributions from the for-profit health insurance industry, and for-profit colleges; and
Whereas, a special Executive Board meeting has been called for October 24 to discuss and take possible action on specifically and formally prohibiting the California Democratic Party from accepting contributions from the fossil fuel industry, and from police officer organizations and law enforcement agencies; now
Therefore be it resolved that the Sonoma County Democratic Party opposes accepting contributions from the fossil fuel industry; and
Be it further resolved that the Sonoma County Democratic Party is also opposed to the California Democratic Party’s acceptance of contributions from the fossil fuel industry, and asks our E-Board representatives to vote accordingly at the upcoming Executive Board meetings on October 24 and November 15-21, 2021.
