FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Sonoma County Democratic Party is steadfast in its commitment to justice, equality, and respect for all individuals. As we commemorate and take pride in the LGBTQIA+ community’s history, accomplishments, and vibrant culture this June, we recognize the significant contributions of our Black, Brown, Indigenous, and Trans communities that have helped lay the foundations of Pride. However, recent events have underscored the reality that our journey towards a safer, more inclusive community is far from complete.
In light of national developments endangering trans lives, the continued ostracization of the LGBTQIA+ community, and unsettling local events – including the perpetuation of hateful rhetoric by elected officials, vandalism against LGBTQIA+ businesses, and protests against inclusive practices in our schools and libraries – we condemn all forms of bigotry. We stand firmly in solidarity with the affected organizations LandPaths, Positive Images, Brew Coffee House, and with the larger LGBTQIA+ community, acknowledging the unique struggles they endure while honoring their resilience and strength. We are committed to providing an inclusive and respectful environment, both within our party and our broader community.
Our solidarity includes active, ongoing efforts to protest, organize, and support legislation that protects the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community. We firmly believe in creating a world where everyone can live openly, authentically, and free from prejudice and discrimination. To that end, we are consistently striving to foster an environment of understanding, acceptance, and equal rights for all, with these principles.
To LandPaths, Positive Images, Brew Coffee House, and all of our LGBTQIA+ friends, colleagues, and community members, we see you, we hear you, and we stand with you. The Sonoma County Democratic Party is committed to continuing the traditions of Pride in protesting, organizing, and supporting policies that protect LGBTQIA+ rights.
In solidarity,
The Sonoma County Democratic Party
