Resolution to cease hostilities in the Middle East

WHEREAS, we support the right of the peoples of Israel and of Palestine to live in peace and harmony, and

WHEREAS Hamas committed a horrendous war crime by killing over the reported 1200 to 1400 innocent civilians and abducting over 200 on October 7, 2023, and

WHEREAS as of mid-November 2023 it is widely reported that Netanyahu’s government has killed over 15,000 civilians, destroyed or damaged ¼ of all the housing in Gaza, and cut off water, food, fuel and electricity to over 2 million people in Gaza; and left all the hospitals without medicines and fuel to operate; now

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Sonoma County Democratic Party calls on Netanyahu’s government, Hamas, and the United States and all other countries to strive to work for the immediate cessation of hostilities, and the release of hostages, and cease supplying offensive arms to the belligerents, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we call for the immediate release of all hostages, and upon the International Criminal Court in the Hague to investigate the belligerents for war crimes.
