Whereas, California Democrats lost a dedicated public servant and a passionate defender of Democratic causes on March 19, 2022, with the death of Stephen Gale;
Whereas, Stephen Gale was elected Chair of the Sonoma County Democratic Party in 2008 and continuously served in that role for 6 years, in which he strongly advocated for and mentored Democratic candidates, ensured elections were carried out in an effective manner; and opened up the first seasonal Sonoma County Democratic Party Headquarters;
Whereas, Stephen was a delegate to the California Democratic Party (CDP), and served as the Executive Board Member for the CDP on behalf of the Sonoma County Democratic Party;
Whereas, Stephen Gale served his community in various capacities over the years including District Director for Congressman Mike Thompson, Member of the Santa Rosa Board of Public Utilities, labor advocate, and strong fighter for veterans’ rights and services;
Whereas, Stephen Gale studied economics at San Jose State and graduated from the University of Southern California with a masters in business management;
Whereas, Stephen Gale lived a life dedicated to service and helping others, was a respected member of his community, and was loved by his family, friends, and colleagues; now
Therefore be it Resolved, that the Sonoma County Democratic Party mourns the passing of Stephen Gale and will always remember his tireless commitment to the Democratic Party and our community.
Be it further Resolved, that the Sonoma County Democratic Party gratefully dedicates its new campaign headquarters in honor of Stephen Gale.
