The Sonoma County Democratic Party voted to support SB 1230 Clean Car Equity for California.
SB 1230 directs the CA Air Resources Board to bundle existing clean car financial incentive programs into a single, simplified application and web portal, and transforms state ZEV financial incentives into point-of-sale rebates that make sense for low- and moderate-income Californians. It also expands the number of incentive programs that support mobility options, such as e-bikes and public transit, for low-income residents.
The legislation initiates the rapid build out of new electric vehicle charging infrastructure, with priority given to construction in disadvantaged communities and chargers that incorporate solar energy and battery-storage. This historic investment in clean infrastructure will create good-paying jobs in the near-term and grow the skilled and trained workforce we will need well into the future.
